Possum Removal in the
Hills District, Sydney
Heavy footsteps in the ceiling after dark? We find the way in, let the possum walk out, then seal it for good.
Our Hills District possum removal service covers homes from Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill out to Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Box Hill and the rural blocks around Dural and Glenorie. No trapping and no relocating. We fit a one-way exit, seal the roof, and give you a fixed, itemised quote first.
This page is for the Hills District in Sydney's north-west (The Hills Shire and surrounds), not the Hills District in Brisbane.
We don't trap possums
In NSW, capturing or harming a possum without a licence is illegal. We use one-way exits and roof proofing only, so nobody catches or handles the possum.

Why do Hills District homes get possums in the roof?
The Hills District is hilly, leafy and threaded with bushland gullies, so most streets are close to a possum's home range. When there's no tree hollow nearby, a warm roof cavity is an easy swap.
The area is named for its terrain. It sits where the Cumberland Plain lifts up to join the Hornsby Plateau, which leaves steep creek lines and reserves between the suburbs. The Hills Shire Council runs bushcare in reserves like Colbarra Place Reserve in West Pennant Hills, which it describes as ideal habitat for the Eastern Pygmy Possum. That's a different, tiny species, but it shows how much possum habitat runs through the district.
The possum that ends up in a Hills roof is usually a common brushtail possum. According to the NSW Government, brush-tailed possums like to live in roof cavities. Ringtails mostly sleep in round nests (dreys) in trees and shrubs.
Does the type of Hills home change how possums get in?
Yes. The Hills has three quite different kinds of housing, and each has its own weak spots. We check all of them at inspection, but this is where we look first.
- Established suburbs (Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill, West Pennant Hills, Winston Hills): older tiled roofs with gaps at the ridge capping, lifted tiles, and eaves that have shrunk over the years. Big street and garden trees often touch the gutter.
- Newer estates (Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Bella Vista, Beaumont Hills, Box Hill): newer roofs are tighter, but we still find gaps where the roof meets a wall, at box gutters, and around solar panel mounts. Young trees grow toward the roof within a few years.
- Acreage and rural-residential (Dural, Glenorie, Annangrove, Kenthurst): sheds, pergolas and large trees give possums many routes onto the house. Bushland is often right at the back fence.
What we find on possum jobs
On the possum jobs we've done, the roof is almost always the problem, and the gutters and downpipes are the usual door. A brushtail can climb a downpipe in seconds and slip through the gap at the top. In the Hills, box gutters against second-storey walls on newer homes and sagging gutters on older ones are the spots we check first. Where the call is about a smell, we usually find a possum that has died in the roof. We remove it, block the hole and fit possum-proof mesh over the roof drains.
What does NSW law allow when a possum is in your Hills home?
You can exclude it, but you can't trap it or take it away without a licence. The NSW Government is clear that capturing or harming a possum is illegal unless a licensed person does it, and that possums moved too far from home rarely survive.
Taking a possum to Bidjigal Reserve or another bushland reserve breaks those rules. A one-way exit is the simple, legal option. Read the NSW possum rules explained for more.
How do we get a possum out of a Hills District roof?
On a Hills roof we check more than the house. Pergolas, sheds and granny flats often give the possum its way up.

How much does possum removal cost in the Hills District?
Prices start from $280 for a single-storey home and $320 for a two-storey home. Price depends on the size and slope of the roof and on how many structures touch it, so we quote on site. No inspection fee when you book the job, and the quote is fixed.
For Hills homes, the price mainly depends on:
- single or double storey, and how steep the roof is (many Hills blocks slope)
- tile or metal roof, and how many gaps need sealing
- extra structures to proof, such as pergolas, granny flats or sheds on acreage
- repairs needed first, such as cracked tiles or rotten fascia
Why choose Super Pest Controler in the Hills?
